If you are very sensitive to noise, it does allow for an adjusted flow level and a lower flow from the fountain does make it quieter and I think it is about as quiet as any fountain could realistically expect to be.

I had to mess around with the pump a little to get adequate flow from the fountain but once I had it figured out its been flowing fine since. I didn't expect it work as well as it does in a filthy area where one dog digs a lot but staying on top of the filters once a week seems to keep it running smoothly. Fittings are plastic so placement of dish is important to keep the dogs from jumping on it and breaking connections. The quick connect fitting stopped flowing water the one time it did get disconnected saving me from a huge mess.

You just need to make sure that the hose is turned off when it gets really cold, and to replace the washers after each winter. I had to replace the motor once and the connectors. As long as you clean it once a week it is a great water bowl and I believe it is well worth it since we have 5 dogs!
